The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) presentation, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004, provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues, and considerations for conducting drills. The presentation is a comprehensive lecture with expected feedback from the audience.
Meet Sam Stock
Sam is a 4th generation Texan with strong tactical ties to the Law Enforcement and Military communities. He is currently an ALERRT Regional Manager for the southeastern United States. Sam has been with ALERRT since March of 2016 and he was instrumental in the development of ALERRTs new Solo Officer Rapid Deployment course. He has also been an ALERRT instructor since 2003 where he instructed Level I Active Shooter, Level I Train the Trainer, CRASE Train the Trainer, Breaching for First Responders, Level II Medical, and Exterior Response to Active Shooter Events.
Prior to his career with ALERRT, Sam retired as a Sergeant from the Hays County Sheriff’s Office in San Marcos, Texas after 20 years of service. 15 years of his service was spent on a tactical team where he was a Team Leader for tactical breachers. Sam is a certified practitioner and instructor for High Energy Breaching, Ballistic Breaching, Mechanical Breaching, and Manual Breaching. He is also a shoot house instructor and firearms instructor.
Sam has a BS in Criminal Justice and Minor in Psychology from Southwest Texas State University. He is a very dynamic instructor with a common-sense approach to real-world active attack issues. Sam is very passionate about making contributions towards instructing courses that will save lives and make a difference.
